I can't speak to it directly but I know a calligrapher who loves parallel pens and uses them all the time who is left handed. The ink is very thin so there is the danger of dragging your hand through it. I'm not sure if it's possible to lift your hand enough to not touch the paper. You will probably want to use them on a paper that is fairly absorbent like watercolor paper and avoid vellum or tracing paper.

Just one question. Don't know if you have the answer but... can left handed people use the parallel pens?

Yep, I second all of the above, having bought my first Bamboo tablet last week. It really is a cracking bit of kit and I would recommend it to anyone who is involved in graphics. You just cannot (or at least I can't) do with a mouse what you can with this piece of kit.

[...] If you’re a left hander, the pen tablet could be even better than for ‘righties’ if you use your mouse in one hand and the pen in the other. I love it. An absolutely great tool for the creation of web and print graphics. It’s going to be well used indeed during the website design process. Josh Scruggs over at 26 Symbols talks a bit about the Bamboo too – follow this link to check out the 26 Symbols review of the Wacom bamboo.
Congratulations! (it's a bit late, I know...)

I just discovered your blog and it's fantastic (your lettering & calligraphy is gorgeous and very inspiring); I hope you have time in between parenting to post more!

Nice letters! I highly recommend Brenda Broadbent's book Parallel Pen Wizardry. (www.paperinkarts.com) As I learned from her, you can load the barrel of the PPP directly with most any fluid (no cartridge needed). It makes these pens that much better and easier to use.
